Broncos Named New Defensive Coordinator

After Wade Phillips had leave the Broncos to the Rams, they needed to find a new defensive coordinator.

Phillips who will turn 70 years old this offseason was surprisingly let go by the Broncos after an impressive couple of seasons , and become the Rams’ next defensive coordinator.

The Broncos have found his replacement internally. They promote defensive backs coach Joe Woods as new defensive coordinator.

Woods, 46, has been coaching football since 1992 and has been in the NFL since 2004. Before joining the Broncos, Woods coached secondaries for the Raiders, Vikings and Buccaneers.

Gary Kubiak credited Joseph when he hired Woods two seasons ago. The two have a solid working relationship that will benefit them going forward.

So the Broncos will have a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator and a new defensive coordinator for the 2017 NFL season.
