Are The Spurs One Of The Greatest Teams In NBA History To Not Win a Title?

The wounds are still fresh less after the Spurs’ Game 6 loss to Oklahoma City, ending the winningest regular season in the history of the franchise.

The Spurs’ 67-15 regular season will be remembered as the best in franchise history. In the formative days of the franchise before winning five championships, that  might have elevated this season above some of the others. But not now.

Sean Devaney of the Sporting News already has elevated this Spurs team among the best in NBA history to not win a championship.

And facts may prove him right. The Spurs are one of only three teams in league history to win at least 67 teams and not win a league title. Only 12 teams in NBA history won that many games.

But putting that information into context will be too difficult for any Spurs fan will be too difficult — particularly as the playoffs stretch on without them.

Maybe later in the summer, Spurs Nation can think back and remember what a special season this was, despite the horrific ending.
